I’m going to do a little demo here of Instacart.
Instacart is an iPhone app that allows you to order groceries online.
I’m running the iPhone SE 2020, which is one of the smaller iPhones.
I am running the latest version of iOS, and I am now going to open Instacart by
using Siri.
<Tim hold the power button to summon Siri then speaks into his phone>
Open Instacart.
<Siri opens the Instacart app then VoiceOver begins reading visual content which is also transcribed>
t Instacart, close button.
All right, so I’m in Instacart right now,
and there is a little promotion here.
Search button, search field.
That came out.
Add my Freddy’s Rewards to Save button.
So I’ll have to close.
Close, 2700, 917th Avenue South button.
All right, so I’m now at the top of the Instacart screen,
and the first thing that you see is my address.
So I’m going to swipe to the right here, one finger swipe,
and I’m going to pick a store that I can shop from.
Account button.
Shopping card button.
Search products, stores, and recipes button.
Search field.
All right, so I’m going to keep swiping to the right.
Rosary button.
Restaurants, new, but alcohol button.
Express button.
Retail button.
Offers button.
Pick up button.
EBT button.
Install prices button.
Fred Meyer by 10 cost go by 10.50 AM button.
We are Fred Meyer.
We have Costco.
We have Safeway by 10.45 AM.
So let’s do Safeway.
I’m going to do a one-figure double tap on Safeway.
Select 2,700 917th Avenue South.
Ten dollars for free delivered Safeway logo.
Brought me back to the top of the screen,
so I’m now going to swipe to the right and do a search.
Create family account.
Earn with Safeway for you registered.
Button, search, button, search field.
All right, so now it said search button, search field.
So to get into the search field,
I’m going to do a one-finger double tap.
Search field is editing. Ask or search anything. Character mode. Insertion point at start.
Use the rotor to access misspelled words.
As you can hear, it says now that I’m in the edit field, then I can do a search.
I can either type in a search or I can dictate. I’m going to do dictate. The way I can do that
is if I do a two finger double tap, I’m going to search for milk. You will hear a beep.
I will then dictate what I want to search for and then do two finger double tap again.
So here we go.
Alright, so it said inserted milk. So you heard a low tone. And after that, I said the
word milk. And then I did a two finger double tap again and a high tone. And it said inserted
milk. So I’m just going to swipe to the right here.
Milk button. So these are all the options we have. We have milk.
Oat milk button. Oat milk. Oat milk. Oat milk. Oat milk.
Oat milk. Fair life milk. Fair life milk. Milk chocolate chips.
chocolate chips, coconut milk, coconut milk, chocolate milk, this is like browsing in a
regular store. This is like going to the store and walking through the aisles, but you’re doing
it virtually. Evaporated milk, evaporated milk, milk dots, milk dots, milk bones, milk bones,
cue. I’m going to do a one finger swipe to the left and get back to just regular old milk.
Milk bones, milk dots, evaporated milk, chocolate milk,
coconut milk, milk chocolate chips, fair life milk, almond milk,
butte milk, butte milk, butte milk, butte milk.
Alright, so I’m now on milk.
It said milk button.
Whenever you hear the term button, it means you can activate that.
So I’m going to do a one-finger double tap to activate that.
Milk.
Now if I swipe to the right.
Milk button, on sale button, brands button.
I’m swiping to the right here.
That content, button, dietary button, flavor button, package tight button,
animal practices, button, type, button, ingredient preferences,
but results for milk results for milk.
So now this is going to give me all my results.

So this loose earn milk is not only cheaper, but it said buy it again.
The reason it said buy it again is because obviously I have bought this type of milk before
and it remembered that I had purchased this before.
That’s another nice thing.
When you’re shopping in a store, if you shop there before and you come across an item
that you’ve already purchased, it’ll let you know that.
So I’m going to add this to my cart.
And what I can do is if I just do one finger swipe up.
Increase quantity, increase quantity, one in cart, one, spent 10, one, first item added.
I swiped up to where it said increase quantity
and then I did a one finger double tap
and it added it to the cart.
So I have one of these gallons of milk now in my cart.
So that’s just a little demo of how to show you
how to do a basic search for an item
and then add it to your cart.
And just reviewing those steps
once you get into Instacart,
you swipe to the right,
find the store that you want,
do a one finger double tap on that store
to get into that store.
Then you’re brought to the top of the screen,
then you swipe to the right, get to the search button,
do a one-figure double tap on the search button
to get into that edit box.
And then if you want to dictate,
you do a two-finger double tap,
you’ll hear a low beep,
you then speak the item you want to search for,
do a two-finger double tap again,
and you’ll hear a high beep,
and it’ll say item is been put into your search,
and then you will swipe to the right
and you can see what choices you have.
So that’s just a very, very basic introduction
of how to do a very basic search in Instacart.
It’s been a life changer for Cheryl and I
because instead of having to go to the store,
find somebody in the store to help us go through the aisles.
Instacart, we can do from the comfort of our couch.
We can choose the store we want to shop from
and the nicest thing of all is we can browse the aisles
at our leisure and it’s pretty awesome.
